  • Intuitive eating is a framework of 10 principles that help heal your relationship with food and with your body. Anyone can become an intuitive eater. As a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, I apply the IE framework while addressing any medical concerns/conditions through evidenced based medical nutrition therapy.

  • The term “disordered eating” is a description, not a diagnosis. It describes a person’s eating pattern that falls on a spectrum between normal eating and an eating disorder, but at a lesser frequency or lower level of severity. Common signs of disordered eating include: restricting eating, compulsive eating, irregular or inflexible eating patterns. As a registered dietitian, I will assess for nutrient deficiencies, provide guidance for individual needs and work with you to challenge the inaccurate beliefs about food, eating and your body.

  • While infertility is described as trying to become pregnant for over one year without success, nutrition counseling may be beneficial prior to reaching that point in your journey. Proper nourishment for both partners increases the success for a healthy pregnancy.

  • PCOS is a a condition that affects your hormones. It is often identified when someone is trying to conceive, but it impacts far more than just fertility. It can increase the risk of other health conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure. Like most conditions, PCOS requires an individualized approach that goes beyond just what and when to eat. To help manage symptoms of PCOS I will take a holistic, whole person approach. This means examining areas such as stress, mental health, sleep and nutrition.

  • The time from conception through the post-partum period can be a stressful time. Nutrition counseling can provide support and guidance to help you and your family feel nourished.

  • During pregnancy, a person can develop diabetes. It is usually resolves after the baby is born, though does increase your chances of developing type 2 diabetes later in life. What you eat and drink is one of the biggest impacts on blood sugar levels during pregnancy. Through careful meal planning and sometimes medication (prescribed by your doctor), gestational diabetes can be well managed and result in a happy, healthy pregnancy.

Pediatrics

  • When it comes to feeding our children, a lot of focus gets put on the “what” we are feeding, but the “how” is actually essential in raising intuitive eaters. Sometimes this work means addressing the caregiver’s relationship around food and body. This is something we will determine together and make a plan accordingly. Raising intuitive eaters can help strengthen the caregiver/child relationship, protect against the harms of diet culture and provide a valuable foundation for your child’s life.

  • Introducing solids to your baby is an exciting time. It can also feel overwhelming. Book a nutrition counseling session today, and I will provide the individualized support and guidance you need to make this adventure joyful.

  • There is a spectrum for picky eating, from developmentally appropriate behaviors to pediatric feeding disorders or eating disorders such as ARFID. During your visit, I will assess where your child falls on this spectrum and then work with you to develop an appropriate plan.

  • Whether you have fears that your child is not growing enough or that you fear they are growing too fast, I’m ready to support you and your child to ensure growth is appropriate.

  • Disordered eating can easily turn into a full blown eating disorder. Let’s get to work now to disrupt this pattern.
