In this presentation, we will explore the critical interplay between nutrition and substance use disorder. We'll examine how substance abuse can disrupt nutritional balance, leading to deficiencies that exacerbate both physical and mental health issues. Key topics include the impact of various substances on appetite, metabolism, and nutrient absorption. Additionally, we'll discuss the co-occurrence of eating disorders and substance use disorders. We will explore how integrating nutritional interventions based in the Intuitive Eating and weight-inclusive framework can support recovery, improve overall well-being, and reduce relapse rates.

We'll discuss how to create a balanced, guilt-free environment around meals, handle picky eating, and promote habits without pressure or stress. You'll leave with practical tools to support your child's nutritional needs and well-being.

This presentation will provide the key nutritional needs during pregnancy, offering practical guidance on how to support both maternal and baby health through balanced, mindful eating. We’ll cover the essential nutrients for each trimester, managing common pregnancy-related challenges like nausea and cravings, and strategies for fostering a positive relationship with food during this transformative time. Expecting parents will leave with the knowledge and tools to nourish their bodies confidently throughout pregnancy.

This interactive presentation introduces parents to the basics of Intuitive Eating (IE), exploring its core principles, such as honoring hunger and fullness cues, rejecting diet culture, and learning to make peace with food. Through engaging discussions and practical exercises, participants will learn how to apply these concepts in their own lives and begin modeling them for their children. The session will offer actionable strategies for creating a relaxed, supportive food environment at home, empowering both adults and kids to embrace a balanced and joyful approach to eating.
